Setback

SETBACK is a term used in zoning regulations to refer to the distance from the property line that a building (usually new) must be held back. Most zones will have specified front yard, side yard, and rear yard setbacks. Live/work renovations of existing buildings normally do not have to comply with setback requirements unless any alteration to the envelope is proposed.
